About NZBIO
NZBIO’s vision is for the growth of a prosperous New Zealand biotechnology sector.
NZBIO is the national peak body representing the bioscience based industries of New Zealand. In 2008, a deliberate move towards the emerging international dialogue on referring to a bioeconomy was adopted, with NZBIO now operating under the tagline “Creating a Sustainable Bioeconomy in New Zealand”.
NZBIO’s role is as an enabling body that undertakes to deliver value to its members, stakeholders and the broader industry. Therefore, as an organisation, the strategic imperatives of NZBIO are:
1. To understand & enhance the value proposition for existing and potential members
2. To run a successful national conference and nation-wide events programme
3. To build a strong and effective relationship with Government Agencies
4. To achieve long term sustainability
NZBIO aims to achieve these strategic imperatives through the delivery of four product and service bundles:
• Policy & Advocacy
• Information & Communications
• Events, Seminars & Conferences
• National & International Marketing & Outreach
NZBIO employs these products and services as to support the four objectives for the broader industry, defined when NZBIO was established in 2003:
1. Generating valuable intellectual property
2. Creating a favourable operating environment for commercialisation
3. Developing business connections
4. Promoting industry development
